# Expiries and 0DTE

Which expiries the levels cover, and why they move during the day.

Options expire on many dates, and each view has to decide which of them to
count. q-bitf names the choice wherever you can change it.

| Scope | What it covers | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| **Latest** | The day-trade expiry: today's when there is one, otherwise the nearest | Intraday levels. The default |
| **0DTE** | Only options expiring today | The fastest-moving positioning |
| **Next** | The following expiry | What takes over tomorrow |
| **Full** | Every expiry in the book | Swing context and the HVL |

## Why levels move intraday

On most index trading days a large share of gamma expires the same day. That
gamma grows as expiry approaches, and today's trading adds new positioning on
top of yesterday's. So the live levels can shift during the session even if
nothing else changes. The `EOD` set stays frozen for reference.

## Weighting

Some views let you choose how positioning is weighted: the q-bitf blend (the
default), the standing book only, or today's activity only. When two
weightings agree on a strike, that strike is a stronger level than either one
alone.
