# Next Open

While CME is closed, a predicted reopening price for ES, NQ and GC, with direction, a likely range and where it lands against the levels.

**Next Open** predicts where ES, NQ and GC will reopen while CME futures are
closed: over the weekend, at the daily break and on holidays. While CME is
trading, it shows when the next prediction starts instead.

For each market it shows:

| Element | What it is |
|---|---|
| **Predicted open** | The expected reopening price |
| **Badge** | **Up** or **Down** with the chance of that direction, **Flat** for a small gap, or **No signal** |
| **Gap** | The predicted open against the last futures close |
| **Range** | Where the open is likely to land; about 2 in 3 opens fall inside it |
| **Opens ...** | Where the predicted open sits against that market's call wall, put wall or gamma flip |

In the live widget a line under the predictions gives the backtest: how often
the direction was right over past weekends or sessions.

Marked **(Beta)** in the widget picker: it is newer, and some of the data
behind it can lag the live market by several minutes.

## Practical application

![Next Open widget, illustrative example: a weekend gap up predicted for ES and NQ](https://q-bitf.com/docs-img/next-open.png "Illustrative example data, not a real session. Saturday, for the Sunday 6:00 PM ET reopen: NQ predicted at 27,190 (+0.42%, Up 71%) from a 27,075 close, range 27,062 to 27,318; ES Up 66%; GC Flat.")

**Reading it.** It is Saturday, and the card counts down to the **Sunday 6:00
PM ET** reopen (1 day 6 hours away). NQ closed Friday at 27,075; the predicted
open is **27,190**, a **+0.42%** gap, with a **71%** chance the open is
higher. The likely range runs from 27,062 to 27,318, and the open lands
**above the gamma flip**, short of the 27,250 call wall. ES points the same
way (Up 66%); GC is **Flat**.

**What it means.** The weekend leans toward a modest gap up for the equity
indexes. The range still includes Friday's close, so a flat or slightly lower
open would not be a surprise.

**How to use it.**

- **Plan the open before it happens:** a predicted open near a wall tells you
which level price will meet first.
- **Treat the percentage as odds, not a promise.** A 71% call is wrong about
three times in ten; size for that.
- **A wide range** means an uncertain weekend: wait for the first minutes of
  trading before committing.
- **Flat or No signal:** no edge in the gap; trade the levels instead.
