Data, sessions and time
What updates live, what is set once a day, and why everything is in New York time.
Two clocks#
- Standing positioning (the EOD walls and the book behind them) is set once per trading day. Treat it as the day's starting map.
- Live data (price, today's flow and volume, the live levels) updates through the session. Watch it for confirmation as price approaches a level.
Each panel shows when it last updated. If a reading is older than usual, the panel says so.
Sessions#
- The US cash session runs 9:30 to 16:00 New York time, with early closes and holidays taken into account.
- ES, NQ and GC also trade overnight. Overnight views are labelled overnight and carry a note, because positioning changes little until the cash open.
- At the weekend and on holidays the levels hold their last session's values.
Time zone#
Every time in q-bitf is New York time (ET), whatever your computer's time zone. The trading day, same-day-expiry detection and the daily reset all follow the New York calendar, so showing any other zone would disagree with the app's own day boundary.
